Professional Compounder Apprenticeship
ByWell, here we are, at the end of the four week forex trading course with Sid.
I have taken a good few days and several sittings to write this for you as I have learnt so much and didn’t want to miss a thing in explaining what I have learnt – and how I see things moving forward. This is an abridged version of my great experience to date!
Actually doing a forex course is the simple part, learning, listening and watching has been a big part of the last month, although it doesn’t seem to have taken up too much more of my time. I have made the time to learn everything throughout the course, savoured going off by myself on my FX Game platform to test some of things we have been taught about forex. I know I’ve impressed my husband with what I have learnt – and totally bemused the children – but when I look back, I’ve actually only spent around an hour and a half a day, at the most, on this.
As I have said time and time again whilst doing the course, I have always found learning new things difficult and I do pride myself on my drive and commitment to “doing what I say” in life. So what has been the most fundamental aspect of doing this particular online forex trading course? Well, for me it has been the development of new life-skills, patience being at the very heart of this. Throughout my life, I have been described as a “doer,” “motivated,” and “the one who always seems to be at her desk working away”. I used to pride myself for being the first in the office in the mornings and the last out. But this is different.
Learning to trade forex has been quite a revelation – it doesn’t pay to be the one who tries hardest, keeps going with the, “just one more trade” mentality which can be so destructive. That “just one more trade” syndrome, I now understand as being a most dangerous state of mind and one that I hope never to feel – and there’s no way I ever will with the things that I have learnt, thanks to Sid?
Going beyond common sense and personal control, is simply gambling. We have been taught that safety comes first and that professional trading is never a gamble. I know that the things I have learnt on this course will keep our capital safe but still allow me to make it work for me wonderfully.
I have sat back on the FX Game platform with my three little windows open and observed, made notes and watched the videos time and time again as recommended throughout the past four weeks. In fact, I have filled just over half a standard A4 pad up with my notes – however, do not be put off by this fact if you are reading this with a view to taking this forex course. I find learning easier by practising and doing a lot of note taking!
My forex journey to date I would describe as being similar to a bike ride in the countryside on a bike that I am unfamiliar with. There is a lot to take in and see around me – but I must not lose sight of what I want to achieve out of this – and that is to become a professional compounder rather than a ‘trader’.
This might seem a subtle difference, but a ‘trader’ spends his or her life trading – that is, concentrating on the ‘trading’ as a kind of profession – the ‘trading’ means everything to them. That’s NOT the nature of this exercise. As Sid says, we are not interested in being a ‘Trader’ with a capital ‘T’ – we are concentrated in making our money work for us. After all, he asked at one point; ‘Did you join this course to become a ‘Trader’ or did you come to simply make money so that you could have a better life?’
I thought long and hard about that question. It seemed silly at first, after all, what IS the difference? And then it hit me – of course I didn’t come to change my life and become a ‘trader’, I came because I wanted to make money work for us and give us things in our life that would ADD to what we already have. What a different way of looking at this?
Do you know, having looked through my notebook several times in the drafting of this particular post, I have outlined, underlined and put several stars by this essential point. We ARE learning to be professional compounders of money, in that we are learning to MAKE our money work for us, learning how to make-more-money thereafter, as a result of this. This really only hit home when writing this, going over the course and joining in with the BBC (Before Breakfast Club).
The fact that we are asked to become accountable for our actions in the BBC, is also a point that I am beginning to truly acknowledge. We have come this far, have been able to learn, in our own time essentially, whilst feeling cared for as I have explained before.
Now it is time for us to come together as a group of professional compounder apprentices and share our daily experiences and learn from what others are doing too. I know that we are still cared for, after all Sid and Kris are making the time to review our screenshots every day – and still give one-to-one assistance where needed – wow, how do they have time? And that’s yet another point, how many people MAKE that sort of time to help us out these days?
During this next stage of what I will now describe as my “apprenticeship” I will be giving more regular updates which I hope will be of assistance to everyone. It has become really obvious to me that Sid and Kris are truly exceptional – not only have they been able to make a good living out of being great at forex, but they have a rare ability to be able to create communities where fellow forex professionals (that is what we are hoping to become) continue to chat, get to know each other and even support one another.
I have had the opportunity to read a lot of information online about other forex training courses, from online courses to those who claim that a simple software package can make you millions overnight; however, all of these sites are selling and not teaching or empowering. This course epitomises empowerment, gently coaxes us to make time to keep up with this course – and then helps us to graduate from our forex education to become apprentices.
This is not the end of my forex journey but the beginning of something immense I feel – possibly describing it as moving in to a new village and getting to know people was an understatement, this is fast becoming a passion and one that I intend to learn at the pace and with the good grace suggested by Sid and Kris.
This post is the most important piece of content that I have shared with you to date – it encompasses some of the many, many new things that I have learnt as well as opening up a new chapter.
As my apprenticeship develops I hope you stay with me on my journey; I know that there are probably many people reading this with a big smile on their faces as they have sat exactly where I am today – professional compounders – here I come!
Finally – was it worth it? Am I pleased I took the leap? Has it been Inspiring?
Yes, Yes and most definitely, YES
Sam
Hi Sam,
I was just wondering about the bbc as I am hopefully going to take the course in April. As I have to start work at 7am m-f would the bbc still work for me?
Thanks
Marcus
Hi Marcus
Sorry for not getting back to you yesterday. I would actually have a chat with Sid to be honest. He’s such a lovely guy and very approachable. I know he does like talking to people before they commit as he does have some great tips!
The one thing that I think it is worth noting is that you will need to be up earlier each morning in order to make it truly work for you. Have you got Sid’s details?
Hi Sam
Thanks for your feedback. Yes I have got Sid’s contact details as I have spoken to him previously when I enquired but I need to get in touch with hem again to ask him if this can work for me.
Thanks
Marcus
hi Sam,
Read your posts, found them very interesting.
As it has now been several months how is your trading/compounding going?
Up till now, are you up or down?
And being up or down, is that because you followed exactly the course or failed to follow through on the course?
Thank you
Tas
Hello Tas, I am doing very well. It’s not just as I was taught on the course to be honest. For me, and almost everyone – it’s after the course that you find the true value of support with Kris and Sid. That’s where my REAL learning about the mental side of things happens. Best wishes – Sam
Hi Sam,
thanks for a great blog! Some really helpful insight. However, in the post above, you didn’t answer the question that Tas posed of whether you were up or down.
You mentioned that it’s not as you learnt on the course. I would (and possibly others) really appreciate if you could expand on this a little more.
As a very interested, but cautious potential customer of this course, I would very much appreciate your views/answers to the above?
Thanks,
Ian
Hello Ian,
What I learned on the course was invaluable and I can’t really speak highly enough of it. But the reality of trading live is not something that a course can give you. The support after the course – the apprenticeship – is where I developed the skill and judgment that has turned me into a happy trader. Particularly when I started using our real money. Sid’s insight into this side of the mental challenges of trading live helped me tremendously. I still listen to the live Sunday calls and most of them concentrate on this ‘psychological’ side of being a consistently positive trader.
I don’t have time to keep this blog up – I agreed to do it whilst I took the course – but with a family of four children, a husband, two dogs and my trading it isn’t practical for me to continue with the blog and I intend to ask Sid to use the space for reports from other traders from time to time. However – let me answer the real question, which is did this course turn me into a profitable trader? The answer is YES it did, but with the proviso that it didn’t happen the way I thought it would. The course was the beginning of a journey, not an event that turned me into a successful trader. The real answer is that the course, the apprenticeship and the ongoing help have kept me on the straight and narrow path that is money-making trading. I have been consistently profitable, month after month. This trading ‘system’ works – but only if you stick to the rules rigidly and unemotionally. This sounds easy, but is extremely hard at first, as I found out to my cost in the first month or six weeks.
Like others before me, I sort of started changing things without knowing it and soon found out that it didn’t work. This was where I realised that you cannot take liberties. As long as you don’t deviate from the really strict system rules, this trading system really works – sticking to the rules can be very hard at first.
I do hope this helps and that it answers your question.
Sam
wow wonderful job. this report was just a little above me, do you have any sources for newbies who’re looking to much better recognize this?
Hi Sam, is been so wonderful reading through your blog. even before my registration. i’ve learn so much already from this post about all. I would say, this is where i belong if i have to learn Forex trading, no doubts. I thank you for making out a great time for a comprehensive details of your journey till date. Nothing more could be so encouraging and thoughtful. I’m on my way to contact Sid and Kris for my enrollment as soon as possible. This is the right place for me too. Thank you Sam.
Best wishes
Samie
