Student Interview:
Kris, a tutor & mentor from Carlisle, UK
I asked a dozen ordinary people to fill in a questionaire about their background and experience on my course.
Most had no previous experience of Forex whatsoever before taking our four week Forex course.
This is the unedited response from Kris.
Kris - please tell me a little bit about your background
I think I could best be described as an alternative type of person. I don’t like bureaucracy and I don’t like institutional situations. I spent seven years working overseas for a charity before settling in the town of Carlisle in the North of England where I home schooled my four kids.
What was your 'normal' life like before Forex?
My friends and family mean a lot to me and ideally I would like to work just enough to live the kind of life I want to lead. I like to be a lady who ‘coffees’ and ‘lunches’ with friends :-). I also have various hobbies - like watercolour painting - that I spend far too little time on.
As the children left one by one for university and I had more time, I began to do private tutoring. Gradually, this grew until almost without noticing it - I realized that most of my waking hours seemed to be spoken-for, with one student leaving and another arriving, on the hour, every hour almost like clockwork.
What brought you to look at earning more/extra money outside your normal life?
Well, I couldn't put any more hours into my normal life - and I wasn't looking for 'extra' money. I suppose I am unusual in that, we didn't want for money in our every-day lives. We were worried about the future and retirement.
Even though it's a fair way off for us, horror stories of pensions becoming worthless by the time people reach retirement age are rife. And to be honest, my husband's pension plan isn't that great anyway. My staying at home to teach the children was the best decision we ever made, but it has left a hole in our financial future.

What influenced you to look at Forex?
I've been aware of the potential in Forex for some years. In fact, I did learn a little about it and tried my hand at it some years ago without any training, and I have to say, without much success. It was a chance phone-call from a friend that led me to looking at it again.
Why did you pick Forex?
I’ve tried trading a couple of times. Once, a long time ago when I tried trading Futures - but that was just too darn scary - and once before when I looked at Forex. I paid a lot of money for a course at that time, but frankly it was money down the drain. When I heard about a course specifically designed for beginners, I jumped at it. Through my previous experience I knew how great the earnings could be with proper training and care.

How did you enjoy the learning process for Forex - were you anxious - and did the anxiety go away?
I thought it was really enjoyable - and to be honest it was fun. The things I thought I knew turned out to be pretty unimportant. The important things are not about being clever or intuitive at all - they are mostly about simple steps to follow - and developing good sense, good habits and patience as you go.

And now - how do you feel about it?
Terrific, for a while I was a bit too 'gung-ho' but was continually and gently brought back to earth, until the realization hit me that the secret is to be relaxed and cool. Once this is mastered, it's a really simple thing to do.
What do you feel it can or does give you as a person and as a woman?
A lot more confidence. The fact that I have become capable of trading with the best of them - in fact, better than most - is a real boost for me. It's also great to know that I now have choices in life with regards to how we live, I never had that before.
And has your longer term outlook improved or not - maybe enlarge a little on this?
I guess I'm lucky because I don’t have to trade for a living. Forex was simply for our retirement plan - home schooling and voluntary work don’t build much of a pension. And I really like the idea that I don’t have to worry about money in the future. It is worrying when your pension is so woefully inadequate.
So for me, Forex is reassurance for the future. My only regret is that I didn't know about it when I was home schooling. Those years were financially very tough, as my husband had to support all six of us. We had so little to spare once the essentials were paid for. Forex would have made a tremendous difference to us then.
