Roy, a Musician from Hawaii
I asked a dozen ordinary people to fill in a questionaire about their background and experience on my course. Most had no previous experience of Forex whatsoever before taking our four week Forex course. This is the unedited response from Jonathan.
Roy - please tell me a little bit about your background
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Hawaii and prepared to be an attorney. But instead I chose to be a rock musician (keyboards/vocals) and traveled all over the USA for many years.
After being disillusioned that I couldn’t be a rock star, I tried different jobs but nothing really interested me until I learned about trading. Trading seemed like the perfect business because I could trade using my PC from anywhere in the world without employees or massive overhead expenses.
What your normal life was like before finding Forex?
After I left the music profession, as I said previously, I tried different jobs such as construction, gardening, restaurant, hotel, real estate, tourism, airlines, teaching, telecommunications, media, administration, telemarketing, etc.
For the past 8 years I have been selling property and casualty insurance working for a big corporation. Having been a self-employed musician in the past for so long, I never liked the idea of working for someone. I wanted to be my own boss so I looked at different business ventures, get-rich-quick schemes, MLM, etc. But nothing worked out.
In my search for the "ultimate business" I thought that trading was the best of all because I could do it by myself and from anywhere. In 1995 I was introduced to Wade Cook’s stock trading course but later learned that it was a scam.
Although I lost money, at least I was introduced to trading and that experience led me to study various trading strategies for stocks, indexes, options, futures and commodities. However, no matter how hard I studied and tried I kept losing money trading; so I stopped in 2001.

What brought you to look at earning more/extra money outside your normal life?
My dream has always been to be self-employed and become financially independent. I have been searching all my life for an ideal vehicle (Forex) to fulfill that dream.
What brought you to look at Forex?
I heard about Forex a few years ago but many so-called trading experts in the futures market said that it was very risky and a sure way to lose all your money so I didn’t look into it. A few months ago I was getting Forex spam from different sources and that’s when I begin to explore it.
One day I was doing a search on the internet and found this site called Forex Bastards. Sid’s course, Forex Training Works, had really good reviews so I decided to check it out. I’m very grateful that I did it because it’s a wonderful system that truly works.
Why did you pick Forex?

How did you enjoy the learning process for Forex - were you anxious - and did the anxiety go away?
Yes, I enjoyed it very much. I was nervous at first when I began demo trading but as time went on I learned to become calmer. Sometimes I still get a little nervous but I think that will improve over time with experience.
And now - how do you feel about it?
Now I’m more confident and believe that I will be able to trade live soon.
What do you feel the total learning process did for you as a person?
I’ve become more disciplined by following certain rules in order to control my emotions of greed and fear and learned to be true to myself by being accountable for my (trading) actions. I’ve learned more about my subconscious mind affecting my conscious mind and how difficult it is to change the mindset.
Has your longer term outlook improved or not - maybe enlarge a little on this?
Yes, it has improved. It’s an ongoing journey but I feel that my judgment is getting better and better each time. I am confident that I will be trading for a living in the near future (hopefully very soon) but I am not forcing it to happen. I will know when the time is right.
