Student Interview:
Sharon, from British Columbia, Canada

I asked a dozen ordinary people to fill in a questionaire about their background and experience on my course. Most had no previous experience of Forex whatsoever before taking our four week Forex course. This is the unedited response from Sharon.

Sharon - please tell me a little bit about your background

Forex Training Course TestimonialWell, I'm from British Columbia, Canada. I was a high school drop out - I got kicked out for talking-back at the dinner table. I did go on to complete my education at night school by earning the money from menial jobs.

I was married at eighteen and at twenty one I had my son and had already started my own first little business, a retail wool shop which I ran for 5 years. I stayed married for 13 years then had to raise my son on my own.

What was your 'normal' life like before Forex?

For several years I worked at a regular job in the daytime and did custom knitting and sewing at night for extra money. It sounds like nothing when you see it written down but it was hard work and long, long hours and in the end it really wears you down.

What brought you to look at earning more/extra money outside your normal life?

This was nothing new for me, I've always done extra work at night for as long as I can remember. For several years, I made a small line of lingerie, then when imitation furs became the thing I made a line of faux fur coats, jackets and accessories, so I've always worked for a little extra in life.

What influenced you to look at Forex?

I first saw Forex being talked about on Doug's forum and as I said at that time, I had lost several thousand dollars by letting someone else do the investing for me - and I lost it all. Then there was the YMMSS debacle where I lost even more money. I also knew that MLM wasn't for me. Forex just looked very interesting, and although it looked a little scary, I did think it might be something I could learn to do.

Why did you pick Forex?

Sid, there was no one greener then I was and you were willing to answer all my questions and didn't make me feel dumb. You also had to take my hand and even lead me through the process of paying through PayPal - to me that said a lot about you.

I felt that after giving someone else the chance to invest for me, who did such a lousy job - well just maybe - I could learn to do something better than that for myself if I was willing to put the time and effort into it.

How did you enjoy the learning process for Forex - were you anxious - and did the anxiety go away?

I was really nervous when I started my classes and had several second-thoughts. I used to come home from work dead tired, and lo-and-behold there was another lesson that needed thought and concentration.

I often wondered how I was going to keep it up. But I perservered. I'd print the lessons and take them to work and read and study at lunch and break-time. Believe me I had lots of second-thoughts and very little money, but I was determined to make this work and follow all the rules.

And now - how do you feel about it?

In one word, 'WONDERFUL'.

What do you feel it can or does give you as a person and as a woman?

As you know, I've taken a small income from forex the last few months, which has given me a greater sense of self-worth. And I find, although I am a proud woman anyway, that I find myself holding my head up just a little higher now. Sid, any extra job I've had has always been labour intensive, so this is really easy to do as long as I follow the rules - and I do.

And has your longer term outlook improved or not - maybe enlarge a little on this?

I've decided to stop taking any income after this month because I want to buy my own place so I need more compounding. I haven't owned anything in the last 15 years but now, I think the time has come again and I will have the $$ to do it.

As you know, I will retire in a year and a half and I plan to be in my own place and not owe money on it. Yes, my retirement years look like they will be the best years of my life, thanks to Forex.
